Book Blogger Hop & Follow Friday 11

It's time for Follow Friday! I usually join in on Book Blogger Hop too, but looks like it's up late this week and I won't have time to update from work.

This week’s Follow Friday is asking: What book(s) have you discovered lately from someone's book blog?

Well, Ginger from GReads! recently recommended One Night That Changes Everything by Lauren Barnholdt, which I just read and adored. And I wouldn't have thought to read Julia Kagawa's Iron Fey series if it weren't for Jen at Makeshift Bookmark. I loved that one too!

Most of my pages-long Amazon.com Wish List are recommendations from other book blogs. Which I love. That being said, I am wary about reading a book lately that I've heard about on every book blog ever. Too much hype is a definite turn-off!

Thanks for stopping by! I made it through Week 1 at my new job, so I'm thrilled today. Happy Friday, you guys.

  6. Using Amazon for books which you see and like is a great idea, might start doing that. It would be pages long within a day!

  12. HI new follower here! I'm right there with you on the hype thing. Sometimes it is worth it and sometimes it is not. I just posted the other day on my blog about how I didn't read the harry potter books for the longest time because of the hype around them. Fortunately I adore the books. That being said I was eager to read Twilight after all the hype and was so severely disappointed. IMHO it is one of the worst books I've ever read if not the worst. Anyway hope you have a great weekend. Please stop by my blog.

  15. I’m a little red in the face to confess that Riddle of Berlin, a book the author Cym Lowell gave me for guest blogging for him while he was on vacation is still on my TBR pile! This year I’ll read it. I meant it!

    Thank God It’s Follow Friday!

  16. In a way I rediscovered the whole YA genre after reading book blogs, especially after the whole Speak Loudly debacle in September. More specifically I decided to read Justine Larbalestier's Liar and the Hunger Games trilogy because of blog reviews - I haven't even seen Liar in my shop yet and had to order it online.

  19. Hey, congrats on the new job - hope you are enjoying it! It's always hard to seperate genuine hype from marketing hype. If I hear enough good reviews, I'll give it a shot, even if it's a book I wouldn't typically read.

    Have a great weekend!

  20. Hah yay, you got into the Iron Fey series! Whoo! :D That's such a lovely series. :) The ending of The Iron Queen is singlehandedly one of the best endings I've ever read. :)

Congrats for making it through week 1! Having a lovely and relaxing weekend! :)

  22. Hi, Anna!

I'm new to the whole blog hopping this week...

Hype can really kill my buzz for a book as you said. It's can be a turn-off...

Oh, I'm so glad you loved the Iron Fey series. It's practically my favorite series of 2010. Are you Team Ash, Team Puck, or just neutral? *laughs*

Have a great weekend and happy reading!

    Asher K.
