These Books Are Serious Tear-Jerkers, People

My friend Ginger at GReads! is asking everyone to join in today to share which books made them cry. There are four books that stand out to me as TOTAL sobfests. We're talking tear tracks on the pages. Yes, I am a sissy.

SPOILER ALERT:
I'm talking about a certain redheaded person dying. Oh, the pain!

Again, more death. I think you all know the SERIOUS tear-jerking death scene in the woods that I'm talking about. I can't wait to see this in the movie. I have faith that they're going to pull this one off so nicely.

Bridge scene. 'Nuff said. And if you don't know what I'm talking about....oh my, stop what you're doing and go read these books right now. "That's what I was supposed to say..." Still gives me goosebumps!

I might be Team Zachary, but Logan still made me cry at the end. Cannot wait to settle down and start reading the sequel, Shift. Which books really got your tears flowing?

  5. I just read If I Stay, by Gayle Forman, yesterday, and cried four times. I didn't cry in Hunger Games, as I recall. I am sure I did in HP.

  6. THAT WASN'T A BIG ENOUGH SPOILER ALERTTTTTTTTTTT!!! Ahhh!!

But anyway :)...I'm sure if I would have read VA and Shade by now they'd be on my list too!

  7. OMG SO MANY PEOPLE ARE REDHEADED. You don't even know who I meant! Hahaha

  8. Definitely the end of The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman....PARTED FOREVER. I sobbed for three hours on a ride back from vacation. It was the first book that literally ever took over my life for an extended period.

  9. You're the second blogger in a week that I've seen talk about Shade! I'm really going to have to read it now!

  10. Definitely Harry Potter! I'm not really a cryer, but I was super depressed when Hedwig died. :/

  11. OMG, fricken Harry Potter and Vampire Academy were weepers for me. Especially Order of the Phoenix.

Also, my latest tearjerker was If I Stay, holy crap I cried during and after. I called my boyfriend in tears from it and he was like ok, that's nice, I gotta go.

  12. Looks like a few more must reads! I love the redheaded comment :) I have seen HP on a couple different blogs and I guess I am going to have to break down and read the series.

@April Oh my freaking word, If I Stay emotionally drained me. I couldn't even really write my review, I just blabbered. I have never felt that way about a book. It was just so raw. I just read it last week after having it on my shelf forever. It was amazing!

  13. Great choices! I actually didn't cry until the end of the entire Hunger Games trilogy (I'm sure I wasn't alone!), but I was sad throughout each book. Love that series!

  14. Thanks for including SHADE! Normally I don't comment on posts that talk about it but I had to say:

I sobbed so hard at that part in Harry Potter! My husband was taking a nap on the couch, so I had to cry quietly. I just felt so shattered.

I vowed never again to pick a favorite character in a series, because they always die. *shakes fist at Joss Whedon*

  15. Cry baby! Just kidding. Deathly Hallows totally got me caught sobbing in public (granted it was in my car and by my fiancee, but still busted nonetheless).

  16. HP still makes me cry, and I've read it four times. ;_; I am such a baby when it comes to those books. Specially since she went and killed my favorite character from the whole series. I will never forgive you Ms. Rowling. Never.

And @Christina a few posts up, me too! The Amber Spyglass was the first book I ever cried over. :(

  17. The Hunger Games! I forgot about that one... wow, I know what scene you're talking about. Sadness!

  18. HP and VA had me sobbing all the way through. And yes the bridge scene, you just had to remind me and now I'm feeling the aching heart all over again. Sadly I haven't read the other two, but I would love to add Matched by Ally Condie, I just finished that a few weeks ago and I was bawling like there was no tomorrow. And a class assignment had me read The Watsons Go to Birmingham 1963 which was a earth-shattering tear jerker that I highly recommend.

  19. I don't remember if I cried during Vampire Academy, but I'm pretty sure I did - I just can't say what about.
Harry Potter is a teary one for me, but it's not Deathly Hollows, it's Order of the Phoenix when Harry is shouting at Dumbledore in ALL CAPS - the emotion is just so high I burst into tears.
Another book that makes me cry is The Master Harper of Pern, by Anne McCaffrey, which follows Master Harper Robinton's life. I had to put the book down and go seek solace from my mother, who couldn't understand how such a book would make me weep.

  20. there are many many tear inducing spots in HP books- the memories harry received at the end (is that spoiler safe enough for those who haven't read yet, and as an aside- GO READ THESE BOOKS!) were what did me in.

Bridge scene from VA - definitely

I tend to avoid books that make me cry but VA series and HP were worth it

  21. The Harry Potter books are my favorite ever, but I was so surprised when I did NOT cry at the end of any of the books 4-7. I so badly wanted to so I could gab about the experience with my friends, but I couldn't get any tear to fill my eye!

  22. I never cried during Harry Potter or the Hunger games. I'm more of a Nicholas Sparks kind of crier, I guess.

  23. Ah, don't get me started on HP- I cried through so much of Deathly Hallows!

Shed a few tears during THAT scene in the Hunger Games :(
