Waiting on The List by Siobhan Vivian

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine to shine a spotlight on upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

The List
By Siobhan Vivian
Scholastic, to be released April 2012

An intense look at the rules of high school attraction — and the price that's paid for them.

It happens every year. A list is posted, and one girl from each grade is chosen as the prettiest, and another is chosen as the ugliest. Nobody knows who makes the list. It almost doesn't matter. The damage is done the minute it goes up.

This is the story of eight girls, freshman to senior, "pretty" and "ugly." And it's also the story of how we see ourselves, and how other people see us, and the tangled connection of the two.

Yes, I know it's still months away, but...Siobhan rocked my socks off with Not That Kind of Girl, and I can't wait to read what she's got in store for us next. She's proven that she's stellar at tackling tough issues realistically but humorously, and this premise seems like it'll suit her style perfectly.

  2. I hadn't hear of this one, definitely adding it to my list. Great pick!

  3. This is my "Waiting On" too - I love Siobhan Vivian's books and yes, Not That Kind of Girl was terrific. April does seem like forever, I'll just have to read NTKOG again in the mean time!

  7. Great pick! I am looking forward to this one too. Unfortunately, something like this happened last year at the school I work out- so I am especially interested in this book since it seems so realistic.

  8. I loved Not That Kind of Girl so I will definitely be checking this one out.

  9. This sounds so good. The theme kind of reminds me of Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver. I'll definitely be picking this one up!
